When did you stop giving your child formula? My son will be 13 months on feb. 7. but he is still on formula because regular milk hurts his stomach and he can't keep it down. My daughter is on a toddler formula and when we tried him on it he didn't like it. So I was just wondering how long other infants were on formula.
My sons doctor said to wait about a month and then try him on the toddler formula again. He says that he just may not be ready for milk yet and to try it later.
My DD was about 14 months. I stopped formula when I took the bottles away. My son was probably somewhere around 16-18 months. There's nothing magical about cow's milk. The formula will provide nutrients while he's starting to eat more and more table food. He can get calcium from yogurt, cheeses, etc. He can get fats from those things too (make sure it's not low fat or fat free cheeses and yogurts).
my son was 12 months when we started doing 50/50 (50% whole milk 50% formula) if he isnt able to drink milk with it upseting his tummy you may want to talk to dr about it...he could have a sensativity to it
My son is 14 months and still on formula too. He has weight issues, so many food allergies to count, and food aversions/sensitivities. He drinks his milk so for now that's the way it will stay. We did graduate him to Similac Go and Grow, which is the toddler based formula related to thier infant formula. So far that's been good for him, but I'm not too happy about the few calories in it.
We are visiting an allergiest, immunologist and now a feeding specialist/gastrointerologist about his issues. If his weight doesn't improve by his feb. 12 visit, they are going to order an endoscopy on him.......I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that just yet so trying everything I can to prevent it.
We are working up to sippy cups, but he's been slow at eating/feeding anyway. He will take warm water and sometimes milk.....but most times he just plays with it.
