Ladies with high blood pressure

I had my son on March 28th and a few days later my BP went up to 142/92 well my doctor didn't seem super concerned and told me just to rest. I've been resting as much as possible with a newborn and a 4 year old lol. Well I checked my BP today with a home monitor and it's down to 138/78. My question is, if you had this problem how long did it take yours to level back out? Should I contact my doctor or not since it's starting to go back down? I'm trying not to worry so I don't make it go back up! Last week I had bad headaches and now they're mild ones.

    You can get preeclampsia after having the baby so your doctor should just keep an eye on you.  Those home monitors aren't reliable though.

    I had gestational hypertension. Blood pressure was high the last two months or so of my pregnancy. It went back to normal by my 8 week follow-up. Typically, it will go down by two months, so if it's still high by then or if it goes up to really high levels, then I would call for an appointment.
