The power of marketing. Formula is an excellent invention for when humam milk is unavailable. Unfortunately its also a potential money maker and had been marketed in many half truth ways.

I had previously thought it was a concern because of weight gain, and possibly allergies. I never knew any of the other risks.

Formula feding does have risks. It's safest to avoid if possible, not to be considered comparable to breastmilk.

I'm glad we have it for the very rare cases where a woman can't feed her baby or she dies before a child is old enough to wean but I don't know why anyone would choose to use it. I was formula fed because my mother thought breast feeding was gross and I had several of the issues on that list. Why bother having kids if you're not willing to take the best care of them you can? -
The thing about breast vs FF is you cant compare two babies. Each child is born with their soecific genetic makeup, some prone to allergies and others not. Most likely your allergy breastfed baby would have been sicker on formula. Your formula fed baby would likely have better immunity but given the fact that genetic makeup is already very good the differences would not be as noticeable.
Two of my three children, all breastfed, have allergies. Given the natute of their allergies they would have been failure to thrive on conventional formula. Although eith bfing they still have allergies, they are able to not only survive but thrive amazingly.
Breastfeeding iu snt a miracle, its our human biological norm. Deviating from that increases risks, but doesnt create something that idnt already genetically present.

I formula fed my first and he is always healthy, rarely ever gets sick
I breastfed my second and she has asthma, always sick and is allergic to mosquitos
