Pregnancy
Is it safe to eat? I have been eating it breaded. I ocassionally have had clam strips which are breaded also. Someone told me that its not okay to eat, but my doctor never mentioned anything. I have a doctors appt next week and I will ask about it. What do you guys say? Yes No?

Shrimp is fine. It's actually a good source of iron! The reasons certain seafood are avoided: raw or undercooked foods increase the chances of food poisoning; some fish are high in mercury, so should be avoided or well-cooked, at least. These fish are larger, eat other fish and live longer before theyre caught, so they have more time to build up mercury. Shrimp is small and doesn't live long, so it's relatively free from toxins. I would only avoid it during pregnancy if I had never had it before and therefore don't know about a possible allergy to it.
