Anything under 100.4 degrees is within the normal body temperature range for a baby and isn't considered a fever. I personally think taking him too the ER would be a total waste of time. How old is he? It's very normal for sleep regression to occur durring teething or growth spurts, it dosn't necessarily mean that anything serrious is wrong.

If you think it is an ear infection the ER is not where you go. It doesn't matter if it is dead at that time. The ER is for emergencies and not convenient walk in visits. Your insurance company would probably also prefer you take him to the appropriate care provider.
If you aren't comfortable with what you were told make another appointment at the regular office. -
I have taken my kids to the ER knowing that they had an ear infection. Doctor was closed for a long holiday weekend and I don't like the doctors at our urgent cares. Ear infections hurt and I am not going to let my kids suffer until the doctors is open.

I would start thinking about an ear nose and throat doctor. If you can go to one with out a referral than do that. My son had an ear infection for 3 months before I could get his doctor to send him to the specialist. He had tubes placed in his ears the day after he turn 1. He still gets infections a few times a year but that's a lot better than it was before. Oh and he will be 6 in less than 2 weeks. -
Sorry but not a good excuse. Did you know that most ear infections are viral? So those antibiotics don't help. Treat the pain and wait.

This & many many insurance companies are now refusing to pay for visits that arent a true emergency.(life or death)

I've dealth with chronic ear infections my whole life and only found out recently how to prevent them before they get too bad, a drop or two of swimmers ear in the ear clears up the water in the ear that causes the infection and some campho phenique in the ear with cotton ball is the only way I slept most nights as a kid.. Good luck momma your doin fine! and If I were in that position I would take mine to the ER too
