Ok my 14m Ds got an ear infection a couple days after Xmas, I ended up taking him to the ER at 2 in the morning and they prescribed him 10 days of amoxicillin. So we finish that and with in 2 days of finishing it he starts not sleeping again and running a fever at night so take him to his regular pedi and he still has an ear infection so she prescribes him cefdinir for 10 days. Well he NEVER started sleeping better, fever went away but still waking up 2-6 times a night. I took him yesterday, day 9 of meds, to the dr but his regular pedi wasn't in and this other dr was there today. She didn't impress me and actually pissed me off a little cause she was more concerned I didn't get my kids the damn flu shot and the whole time was lecturing me over it, and she was definitaly NOT kid friendly. She said he had fluid on his ears but no infection and brushed off the not sleeping on teething. Well starting last night he spiked a low 100* fever and barely slept (meaning mommy didn't sleep either) and its been an off and on fever all day too. I am at my wits end and am starting to feel helpless bc he has not had a good night sleep sense before Xmas and He has spent most of this month with a fever! I am not 100% sure if I should trust that other pedi now and spend a few more nights sleepless, or call and make sure we get into his pedi ( I'm afraid I'm going to just get pushed off sense they are in the same practice), or I'm half tempted to see how tonight goes and if he still isn't sleeping and is running a fever then at 1am take him to the ER (it's dead at that time on a Thursday night so I don't feel bad) . I'm so confused and irritated and tired and many other things.... I just want my poor boy to feel better finally :-(

It's a military hospital I would go to not a regular hospital or regular insurance.

This & many many insurance companies are now refusing to pay for visits that arent a true emergency.(life or death)

If you think it is an ear infection the ER is not where you go. It doesn't matter if it is dead at that time. The ER is for emergencies and not convenient walk in visits. Your insurance company would probably also prefer you take him to the appropriate care provider.
If you aren't comfortable with what you were told make another appointment at the regular office.

Exactly, especially if his dr I don't fully trust or like and he has had this going on for over a month. Little ones can't always say how bad it hurts just that it hurts and nothing is stopping the pain.

I have taken my kids to the ER knowing that they had an ear infection. Doctor was closed for a long holiday weekend and I don't like the doctors at our urgent cares. Ear infections hurt and I am not going to let my kids suffer until the doctors is open.
