I've just used Baush & Lomb (sp?) Eye Wash. Clears it right up, no doctor visit or antibiotics required.

She will miss the Christmas program. The antibiotic drops take about a week to clear the infection. When you use natural remedies (like Baush & Lomb)it clears up the symptoms long before it clears up the infection so it will look like she is better but it is still contagious and will come back if you don't complete the treatment. Natural remedies actually work slower then antibiotics for this. You must use the natural stuff for an additional week before you are not at risk for spreading pink eye. Personal experience here! The best thing you can do is to keep her home (pink eye is extremely contagious so have her wash her hands frequently, disinfect the common surfaces routinely) and keep up with the antibiotics. Good luck!!

Interesting since the couple of times we've had pink eye we've only treated for a couple of days, it went away, and never came back.

symptoms will go away, it can possibly come back but you are still contagious for 2 weeks after you start treatment. There was an outbreak in our town a couple years ago so I had to do a lot of research on it.

I wouldn't use them together. Antibiotics are pretty rough on your body already (which is why people opt for natural treatments) and since med school doesn't really cover natural remedies, your dr won't know how it will interact with them. I would choose one or the other. There are a couple different methods you can use. Here is a link describing them, just make sure you fully research how to use them properly, I would recommend calling a homeopathic specialist or at the very least doing several online searches so you don't end up hurting your daughter or accidentally giving friends or family conjunctivitis for Christmas! :-)

no, 2 weeks the general incubation period when you use natural remedies. When using a prescription, follow your dr's instructions. :)
