Sleep regression?
October 6, 2012 at 10:05 PM
My lo torned 4 months this week and lately he hasn't been sleeping well. Before he would take about 2 naps, two hours a piece. Now it takes me forever to put him down then he will only sleep about 15 mins. Before he was sleeping from around 10:00-7:30 without waking and now he wakes up a couple of times a night to nurse. Is this just a phase? Is there anything I can do to help him sleep?

Probably a growth spurt. I would jus let it run its course.

Normally when he goes through spurts, he nurses a lot during the day. He hasn't been doing that. My mom keeps telling me to feed him "real" food to keep him satisfied longer but I really feel he should only have bm for at least 6 months.

Mine is doing the same thing!  He started sleeping through the night (from 9pm-5 or 6am) about 3 weeks ago.  We went on vacation last week and he was up several times each night wanting to nurse.  I'm not with him during the day (he goes to daycare), but I know that his naps are lasting anywhere from 30min to an hour, where before, he was sleeping2-3 hours at a time.  I"m assuming a growth spurt and it probably won't last long.

4 months is a huge growth spurt, supply regulation, and sleep regression. Solids are NOT needed, your baby is 100% normal. It will pass soon mama :)
