I'd say pretty good. How many wks??? About 32??? My son was born at 32wks, I went into labor at 22wks and they stopped it for 10 wks. My goal was to make it to 32 wks. I have alot of friend's who had kid's way earlier then 32 wks. that are doing fine. To have any chance for survival you have to make it to 24 wks (I think there are some rare cases that babies have survived at 23 wks). -

It's only about a month early. Most babies born after 24 weeks do survive. He will be in the hospital for a while. My friend delivered at 34w5d. She had placenta previa. She went in the hospital at 28 weeks. Almost delivered him at 32 weeks, but he held on a little longer. He was pretty healthy. Took a few days to get him to eat on his own, but he is very healthy now. Does have a bit of a big head due to fluid, but otherwise he is fine. Here is a pic of him with my boy. They were suppose to be only 8 weeks apart. But instead they were 12 weeks apart. This pic was taken when my son was about 2 weeks old. So Sean is about 3 1/2 months

Each baby is different but here is what I'm hoping will give you hope. My niece was born just over 2 months early. She was 4lbs. 2ozs. at birth and had to be but on a breathing machine but the machine was using room oxygen. She stayed in the NICU for 37 days then she got to go home. She had to get herself to at least 5 pounds and had to reach a certian gestational age. She also had to be able to drink from a bottle. My niece would sometimes forget to breath so her heart would act up along with that. Now she's almost 6 months old she's still hooked up to a heart and lung monitor just incase she stops breathing. But she's now about 12-15 pounds and just a happy baby. She's on meds for reflux and has to see specialists because she was early. But she smiles all the time. She's still got problems from time to time but looking back how things were when she was born you can see how strong she is. I hope things go ok for her and the baby. Just remeber that babies are stronger than alot of people give them credit for.
