President Obama, speaking in Virginia, said, "We don't believe anybody is entitled to success in this country."

"This country doesn't just succeed when just a few are doing well at the top. It succeeds when the middle class gets bigger. Our economy doesn't grow from the top down -- it grows from the middle out. We don't believe that anybody is entitled to success in this country," said Obama. "But we do believe in opportunity. We believe in a country where hard work pays off and responsibility is rewarded, and everybody is getting a fair shot and everybody is doing their fair share and everybody is playing by the same rules."

    I agree with his statement.

I'm sure you're one of the millions who think they are "entitled" to the success of others, though.

Upon examination of what Obama said and the context in which he said it, I agree with the sentiment.

Um, quite the oxymoron here...but, I am not surprised he would say such things...

Reading the entire quote, I agree with what he is saying.

If you want to succeed, you have to work for it, you arent entitled to it.

No one is entitled to success. It needs to be earned. Nobody deserves success just by existing. Just like his comment on businesses, taken out of context. A business becomes successful because of the customers, the loan officers, all the people who support that business. Success is a collaborative effort and no one deserves it just by existing. They deserve the right to try. Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness.

He's always putting his foot in his mouth!! He's an habitual liar!!! I can't listen to him anymore!!!

Success (n):  accomplishment of an aim; favorable outcome...attainment of wealth, fame or position.

Succeed (v):  have success, be successful

So, Obama is telling everyone that they are not entitled to success, ergo, not to succeed in their goals.  Everyone is entitled (the right) to the success that they earn for themselves.

He really put his foot in his mouth on this one.  Why should people aim for success, when the president tells you you aren't entitled to it....

It's one of the more ludicrous demeaning statements he's made yet.

He is changing his wording to "fair shot" from "fair share", because he finally figured out that tactic was costing him support.  And as Gov. Romney so eloquently said in the debate, "Gov't trickle down economics doesn't work."  And for those of you who weren't paying attention, when the mod asked Obama what he thought of gov't trickle down economics, Obama mumbled something, asked the mod to change the topic, and went off on the Obamacare rant.

If you don't have the successful employers creating jobs, the middle class have no jobs.  The success of one can affect the success of the one under him.

Life isn't fair, suck it up.  It's about time someone told Obama that.

Keep on spinning that wool, ladies.  Pretty soon you'll have enough to make a sweater.

Obama doesn't know squat about economics.  He proved that in the debate, and with the debt he has tripled since he got in office...then there's the inflation index that will explode one of these days from 3 QEs.
