I'm from Alabama and using surnames as first names is very common around here! There are a few girls in DD's class at school and her dance class that have them: Eiland (goes by Eila, girl), Anderson (girl), Thompson (girl), Stockton (boy)

Abram or Alston - Neither, but if I have to choose Abram (boy)

Anson or Adler - Adler (boy)

Archer or Avery - Like both Archer (boy), Avery (girl)

Barton or Baxley - Barton (boy, middle name)

Benson or Bowen - LOVE Bowen (boy)

Calvert or Carver - Carver (boy)

Cabot or Calder - Cabot (girl, middle name)

Conlan or Clement - Conlan (boy)

    Dedrick or Doran - Neither...

Dawson or Destry - Dawson (boy)

Dempsey or Deveraux - Dempsey (boy)

Erving or Ewing - Erving (boy)

Edison or Erickson - Edison (boy or mn for girl)

Fenton or Fischer - Fischer (boy)

Farris or Fletcher - Fletcher (boy)

Galvin or Garner - Neither....Garner I guess (boy)

Gerard or Gibson - My SO loves Gibson (boy or mn for girl)

Hagen or Halston - Just had a new cousin born named Hagan!

Hanley or Holland - Hanley (girl)

Irwin or Ives - Ives (mn for girl)

Janson or Jensen - Jensen (girl)

Jenner or Jarrett - Jarrett (boy)

Keirnan or Kinglsey  - Like both, Keirnan (girl)

Kallen or Kimball - Kallen (mn for girl)

Langley or Larkin - Langley (girl)

Loria or Lyndon - Lyndon (girl)

McCoy or Maddock - Maddock (boy or girl really)

Marlow or Milan - Marlow (girl)

Monroe or Monet - Monroe (girl)

Nelson or Nicholson - Nelson (boy)

Oakley or Odell - Oakley (girl)

Piper or Parrish - LOVE Piper (girl)

Pierson or Preston - Like both, but Preston (mn for boy)

Quincy or Quinn (Quinn, unisex for me really)

Randolph or Rosen - Rosen, because I don't like Randolph (girl)

Sheridan or Sloane - Sloane (girl)

Schuyler or Shelby - Shelby (girl)

Tandy or Tierney - LIke both, but Tierney (girl)
