a italian name to go with chinese last name?!?!
May 8, 2013 at 6:59 AM

Im italian decent and my husband is chinese. We both agree to give our baby a stong italian first name but my husband wants something to flow with our last name, Liauw. Pronunced like a cats "meow" but with an "L" instead of "m".

I always liked Vincenzo for a boy but he complains that it doesnt have that flow. Not sure what the gender is yet so looking for girl and boy names.

Any ideas??? TIA

My suggestions is to keep the first name easy to spell and pronounce and recognize to offset the uniqueness of the surname. Another good idea is to mirror the L or the W from your last name in the first name, because it gives it continuity despite the cultural differences. Since Liauw is one syllable, a two or more syllable name will sound best paired with it.

    Italian names I like:

Alessa, Bella, Bianca, Cara, Fina, Gabriella, Gemma, Isabella, Leona, Lia, Luna, Marisa, Sienna, Terra, Valeria, Viola.

Aldo, Darin, Enzo, Leo, Luca, Marco, Nico.
