Best Kid Friendly Asian Meal Ideas?
July 16, 2012 at 5:58 AM

Anyone have an idea what I can make at home that my kids would like.  For example, we've made potstickers before and kids helped make them, and then they ate what they made and really loved the idea.

Maybe spring rolls. Fried rice. try Tempura and deep fry chopped vegetables and seafood. When I was younger I'd help make bao-zi, steamed buns with meat filling. Here's a link. you can do pork, chicken or beef. you can substitute Pillsbury dough for the bun and the kiddos can help put the filling in.

I am non-Asian, and egg fried rice is a winner for me, because it can include vegetables, seafood, and/or meat. Just use a good recipe with cold rice by a chef like Martin Yan or Grace Young (both Chinese).

I agree with the fried rice idea, fried noodles are usually a big hit with kids too. You could also make a noodle soup, kind of like a pho with rice noodles, meat balls, napa cabbage, beansprout, various meat and tofu...etc. They can kind of pick their own ingredients yum yum!
