Do I have to?
March 9 at 3:24 AM
I finally told my ex to follow the visitation order, he is pissed. He threatened to take me to court for custody; I hope he does, I know he can't take it. My problem is, do I have to give him my new address? My bf and I got a new apartment, my ex knows and wants my address. He threatened to beat up my bf and create problems. My plan was for my ex to pick up my son at my parents to avoid anything in front of my son; never letting him know of my new address. I don't want to get in trouble for this. Any input will be appreciated, thank you ladies.

Do not give him your address! Keep a record of the threats in case he does take you to court, you can show a judge.  I would pick another "safe place"for him to come and pick up your son. Maybe a public place - he can still start problems at your parent's house.

Why does he not want to follow your visitation anymore? What is your current custody arrangement?

We never followed the visitation order, but I'm fed up that he never calls to pick up my son. He shows up whenever he wants. I tried to get along with him but he takes advantage. I'm the primary custodial parent. He only sees his son when it's convenient for him. As for keeping track of his threats, he called. From now on its texting; no more phone calls.

Normally custody orders require you to give notice of change in address and phone number within 10 days. Better check it because he can charge you with contempt if you don't.

Check your orders and keep records of the threats you may want to modify your orders to specify drop off and pick up

Check your orders, if its stated to inform each other then you have no choice.

If you moved and your c/o says you must keep him informed of your new addess, then follow it. If you feel he may threaten you becuse he might show up at your door or do something while your not home, then when you go back to court - you can ask to have a different drop off/pick=up vistation area requested.  Just be sure when you do that, - you make notes when he shows and how long you waited for.
