Sick of shaving your legs? Well you're in luck, because hairy legs on women is in style this summer. Not since the summer of 1915 have we seen such a warm, welcome embrace of hirsute gams. All of a sudden, women everywhere are throwing down their razors and waxing kits and saying NO MORE. No longer will we be slaves to hair removal and razor burn. It's time to liberate leg hair!
Two Tumblrs, Hairy Legs Club and Very Hairy Legs, have inspired thousands of women to stop shaving and waxing their legs -- or at least change the way they feel about staying hairy. And there's also a Facebook group, WANG (Women Against Non-essential Grooming). The thing is, some women can't shave for health reasons, others can't keep up with the growth, and still more feel like we just shouldn't feel pressured to shave if/when we don't want to. There are a million different reasons for ladies to go fuzzy, so we decided to let a few speak for themselves through some of our favorite quotes and photos from the Tumblrs.
Being Hairy Always Made Me Self-Conscious
"I've always been so self conscious of my legs. Even when I shave them, the hair is so dark and thick that the stubble is very visible. Even in the summer, I always wear jeans because I'm afraid of what people will think about me. Between my hair, my big thighs, and my knee scars, I've been too afraid. Seeing so many beautiful women who are proud of their wonderful legs is fantastic. I still have a lot of work myself to get confidence, but this really helps me." Hairy Legs Are Like Rays of Sunshine
"My best friend told me that the hairs on my legs were like little rays of sunshine. It made me feel so happy and I wanted to share that with of the rest of you." bostonfooins via Very Hairy Legs (her legs not pictued here)
I Have Come to Love My Hairy Legs
"I have come to love my hairy legs," says a Hairy Legs Club follower (her legs shown in photo). "Thanks to this site, I will never shave again."
Being Hairy Makes It Hard to Feel Normal
"Thankyou!! I have been struggling feeling 'normal' with the amount of leg and tummy hair I grow. It feels like a consistent state of plucking/waxing/shaving and it literally drives me crazy sometimes. When I don't shave my legs and armpits, even my mom thinks it's gross and tells me to shave and that kinda makes me sad. This blog makes me feel a lot better in a society that portrays women as being hairless 99% of the time!" Anonymous via Very Hairy Legs
Shave Only if You Want To
How cute is this little doodle scribbled on her leg? "take pride in every lil hair abt u, if u choose," says another member of the Hairy Legs Club.
With Hairy Legs, I Feel More Feminine Than Ever
"I have hairy legs, and to be honest I feel more ‘feminine’ than ever!" says Becca on Hairy Legs Club.
Do you think it's becoming more acceptable for women to not shave their legs? How do you feel about body hair grooming?
I have no clue. LOL
I can say that I have shaved my legs exactly once in the 20 years DH and I have known each other. And I don't think I had shaved my legs for at least a year before we met. So, once in 21 years at least. And I only did that one time because I thought that maybe DH would like it. He had never complained about my not shaving but I don't know, I just thought maybe he would prefer it.
He didn't even notice. I had to tell him what I'd done and then deal with the stubble. It was terrible. Prior to that I had gotten to the point where I barely had any hair below the knee (I did not shave above the knee, haven't since I was a teen. All the hair is baby fine and invisible.). Then I had to start over! It's been a long, long time since that incident and I'm back to having large portions of my legs hairless again. I guess it just rubs off because of pants or something? I don't know.
I guess I'm just not a super-hairy person? My maternal grandmother never shaved her legs, not once in her life and she literally had like, 2 leg hairs.
I don't know anyone who doesn't shave and I sure wouldn't do that but if someone else doesn't want to I don't really care. During the winter when i lived in an area that cold, I didn't shave every other day like i do now..sometimes i would go up to a week without doing it but I just can not have hair on my legs and show them. *I* personally feel that I am not put together all of the way...i even shave my arms. But I feel that way about makeup and doing my hair too. Some women don't. do whatever you feel comfy with i say. I won't be following this trend if it does turn up in my area though ;P

I wish I could just stop shaving! My hair grows back in minutes it seems and it's so dark and thick. I've also shaved my arm hair which I regret. I'm thinking about growing it back out this winter and see how bad it gets. My arms were as hairy as my dads and that's saying something. It was so long and dark, I had to comb it down. I hate shaving my legs because I get stubble and razor bumps. I also get cysts on my thighs from shaving so I usually wait until I know my razor can't take it to shave them. I'm sure my husband would be weirded out...

I don't know . Lol
I always shave my legs . I would not feel comfortable not shaving my legs. I would feel awkward in shorts or swimming in public .

I could personally never go without shaving. I got a tattoo on my leg and couldn't shave my right calf for a few weeks, it drove me absolutely crazy. My husband doesn't care either way, and he's even told me that if I don't want to, then don't, but it's not about what anyone else thinks to me, it's about my personal comfort, and having excessive body hair would drive me up the wall.

Not personally a fan of hairy legs.
