An easy cole slaw dressing, this is enough to dress about 1 medium head of shredded or chopped cabbage.
1 1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon Creole seasoning or seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
salt, to taste
Combine all ingredients in a jar; shake well. Refrigerate for about an hour; dress shredded cabbage. This makes enough for about 1 medium head of cabbage. I add a little grated carrot and onion to the mixture, or you could use green cabbage with a little red cabbage.
Simple...LOVE coleslaw, especially with sloppy joe's!
Mayo (a better, thick, rich like Best Foods/Hellmann's)
Squirt of lemon juice (you don't want it too runny)
Optional: A pinch of Coriander (good with cucumbers, too)
or, my favorite.....
Chili powder to taste (it doesn't make it spicy, just mellows out the eggs in the mayo) plus gives it a little color.
I'm curious about the other suggestions....may have to try some of them out!
P.S.- If you like juicy coleslaw, then grate your own cabbage and carrots. If you like it a little stiffer, buy the dryer, precut/prepackaged ready to mix coleslaw.
