April 29, 2013 at 2:43 PM

Hello everyone,

My name is Marlena, I have 3 children ages 7,10, and 12. I am separated from my husband, I was a housewife for 13 years, I am looking for  legitimate at home employment, and I would appreciate any information given.

Thank you,

The only thing I know that pays fairly well is child care. Good luck.

I am a single mom and I have a regular babysitting job. I have tried to find some kind of other work at home job as well, but most everything I have found wants you to buy something or has some sort of start up cost. Maybe somebody here will know about any available opportunities though!

My aunt does child care out of her home. $20/Kid/day. In the summer she makes some serious bank

Go to the ABC Good Morning America website.  Search for Tory Johnson -  she is their career specialist.  They have or use to have a list of legitimate Work From Home companies.

Be very careful of want you choose some are fake and just take your money.  Make sure to check them out with BBB.  Now I don't have a work at home job. But I do have a business that I can truly call my own. Small start up cost. And I get out of the house a couple times a month and get to socialize with other adults. If interested in joining my team or just want more info please let me know.
    Good luck,

Have you looked into direct sales? Pampered chef, Avon, party lite, Scentsy, etc.

Look on Craigslist. In the employment section you can usually find telecommuting jobs.

Hi Marlena! I agree with one of the other posts on here, you have to be careful and watch out for scams. Always good to do a scam alert search.

I started my own business working from home over 5 years ago and I have to say it was the BEST thing I have ever done. I don't sell, or have any dealings with those possibly scammy companies that ask for money and the only way you make money is by signing other people up... Blah!

I actually posted a question on this group asking a poll to help me gather data as I am trying to make my company into something that will be able to offer other single or struggling moms like me the same opportunity I had without all the crap I had to go through to get it done. And I am looking to gather some data on that topic.

I started out working from home as a VA (Virtual Assistant). Made hourly rates for actual work. So nothing sales or scammy. Just actual working from home.

If you want to talk more about it let me know I am happy to help!

I also created my own free report for those who are looking to work from home. Called "7 Things to Consider Before Starting a Home Based Business". It's totally free if you want to get it. No strings.

Either way though I wish you the best of luck!
