How do you know if a newborn has acid reflux? I'm pretty sure dd (10 days old) has it. She screams for 30 min after eating then randomly while trying to lay down after as well. I recently changed formula but it made her really gassy so I switched back and already the gas has gone away for the most part but she's still so fussy. I literally can't put her down without her screaming
does she make grunting noises while sleeping? Does she spit up a LOT? Try supporting her after she eats on a boppy or carrier, and check with the dr...I had a severe reflux case in my youngest son, I didnt want to put him on meds tho, so I experimented with mixing formulas until we found a good mix of NUtramagen and Enfamil AR that worked for him, good luck
My friend said her baby would projectile vomit everywhere and would scream most of the day when he was a newborn, he would soak him and her if she was holding him. She said the day before she took him to the doctors he screamed for 24 hours straight. They had to let him sleep in his car seat for a while.
My daughter's ped suggested elevating her when she sleeps and eats, burp often, and gave her zantac. She still gets discomfort and spits up sometimes but i only give her med once a day instead of twice (my not liking her on meds). We are hoping she will grow out of this.
My dd had to be placed on Goats Milk because she had a very bad case of acid reflux plus she had to be put on meds because she was spewing up her food ever time she ate weather I had her sitting up straight or not. I had to keep her sitting up or elevated up or she would spew and start choking. Myself and her father both has acid reflux so that was not a suprise for us that she would have it too. Other than talking to your PED I do not know what to tell you. I would not do the meds though unless they just could not find any milk that would help your little one.
Also my sisters little boy has had to have cereal in his bottles since he was about 10 days old because he does the same as your little one. He is now 6 months old and they have changed his milk so many times and have still not found one that he can drink with out cereal other than whole milk.
Good Luck and I hope she gets to feeling better soon.
