Pinkeye? Treatment?
March 2 at 11:47 AM
Hi! I'm thinking maybe my 4yr old might have pink eye. His eye is really swollen and pink only around his eye and eyelid. Not sure if its from him rubbing it or not. Do they need antibiotics or does home treatment work?

Do you breastfeed? Breastmilk treats pink eye, it did when my son was little.....other then that I think just antibiotic.

Depends on the kind. There is a bacterial and a viral strain. Head to the dr.

Wouldn't hurt to call your pediatrician & see what they suggest,
Good luck & let us know what happens & hope it is gone soon;)

Pinkeye is usually a bacterial infection and requires ophthalmic (for the eye) antibiotic cream.  I have no knowledge or experience with using breast milk or honey.  Most, if not all, pediatricians will prescribe the antibiotic cream, which is topical and not systemic.

I don't know of any home treatments for pinkeye. I got eye drops from a doctor.
