You need available credit in order to have a good credit rating.

Do you have any credit cards? Pay them

If you don't have any credit cards save some money and get a secured card..,,and pay your bill. Butdont Max it out. Make small purchases so you leave available credit.

    This takes time.

Haven't had credit cards for 3 or more years.

My husband and I have had a few late payments (over a year ago), and delcared bankruptcy more than 9 years ago.

How do you get a secured card?

just Google it, you'll find a bunch of them. Typically you send them 500-1000 and that's your limit. Its not like a prepaid, because you still have to pay it monthly, you've just secured it with your cash instead of a banks.

But if its been 9 years...why not just get a regular card?

Try getting a secured card through your bank. We did and i have raised my credit score 48 points in 5 months. I know that might be weird in some peoples eyes but to me its good lol. We paid in 500 and just pay it monthly but dont max it out. I hear wells fargo is 300. Good luck!

go to your bank and see if they will give you a loan. Just a small one even, a thousand dollars. Stick it in a bank account and make payments back.

Get a credit card. Buy something with it. make payments
