5. What you do for work? SAHM/W .. when I did work outside the home I was an admin asst./exec. secretary
6. How many children? 5; 16 grandkids
7. Children Ages and names? Crystal - 43; Matt - 41; Melanie - 40; Mike - 38; Stacie - 23
8. Are you part of any groups, volunteer work, or other activities in real life? I belong to a homemaker's group and a bible study group

10. You close to your family? my parents are dead & I have no siblings; I am close to my stepmother, not so much to my stepbrothers & stepsister (I was 37 when they came into my life). I'm pretty close to my relatives on my side, although we live at least 1000 miles apart. I've very close to dh's family; his brother & his wife life one house down from us and his sister & her dh live about 45 min. away. We have neices & nephews all around that we are close to. Not to mention our own kids ... our youngest still lives at home; 1 lives down the road & around the corner & another lives about 20 minutes away. The other 2 live in FL. But we are pretty close to our own kids and grandkids ... as close as we can be when they are busy with their own lives!!
11. Do you have a lot of close friends? I have 4 best friends - 2 are really a married couple. Then I have what I'd call several 'close' friends and a good number of what I'd just called fairly good friends.
12. What hobbies do you have? Humm, hobbies ... my computer, I spend a lot of time on this thing. I also love to collect angels, teapots/teacups (I have so many I'm running out of places to put them); and I'm starting a collection of crosses, mosting the kind that hang - so I don't have a huge collection of those. I also love to take pictures; my grandkids kid me about always having my camera whenever there is a family event/function going on.
13. What talents do you have? Not really sure I have any 'real' talents, unless you want to call being a good listener and a loyal friend a talent.
14. What time do you wake up in the morning? generally anywhere from 6:45-7:30 a.m.
15. What time do you go to bed? usually between 10-11 p.m.

17. Other than you children, is there anything you strongly advocate for? I advocate by annually contributing to the March of Dimes, in honor of the fact that it has been of much help to 3 of my grandbabies.. I also give to breast cancer and try to give a few others whereever possible.

Thank God for such a wonderful dh, he does it now that I can't ... brings it upstairs for me to fold & put away. And also thank God for dishwashers!! Dh makes sure mine is always working.

66. Do you spank your kids? Not now, they are grown and on their own. But I will say, we have been known to on occassion. There is a huge difference between spanking and beating. Our kids knew when they got a spanking exactly what it was for; after we talked about it and what they did. It was ALWAYS tempered with lots of love. Our kids also have been known to spank their kids a time or two, although one will swear she never has. Our kids have never called us out on it either.

The boys were always outside and the girls were jsut into other things. Our youngest is a huge book-worm and always has 3-4 books going at a time. I'm the one that has the tv watching problem!!
70. What is the worst thing your child has done to be punished? Our youngest was having a temper tantrum one time ... she was ADD when she was younger ... and I had been sick and let her run out of her meds. Our oldest son happen to be at the house and saw it. I had told her no to something and, well she completely lost control, and she swung at me and hit me. He went off, picked her up and took her back to her bedroom (all before I had a chance to react) and dropped her on her bed ... he was married by then ... and proceeded to let her have it. I could hear him in the living room. Part of what he said was ... "mom knows what she's doing and she does what she does because she loves us. You may not agree with it, but you better listen to her or you'll answer to me. Don't you ever do that again." She had counselling for several years and believe it or not, but a lot of times when she had these kinds of tantrums (they were very rare & this was the only time she ever hit me) she never remembered them after.
71. What is the one thing your child has done that surprised you? The above incident was also the one that surprised me the most, both because this was the first time dd lost it like this .... and also because of ds's reaction; I was so proud of his statement to dd!
72. When's the proudest you have ever been as a mother? I don't know if I can pick a proudest moment; there have been so many proud moments.
73. Do you still party or always stay home. We are not a party couple, but we do go out sometimes. Dh is a member of the local Lions Club so we go to dances and events there.
77. Are you a single mother? No now, but between my 1st & current marriage I was for 3 years.
78.Do you use your parents as an example of what to do or what NOT to do as a parent? a little of both
79. Whats the hardest part about being a mother? teaching your kids to leave the nest and then letting them go and doing it with a smile
80. When do you start potty training? depends on the child; mine were both a little late, but about 16 months
81. At what age would you let your child have a cell phone? our older ones were on their own when they became popular, but for the younger dd ... we got her one for her 16th birthday. She's 23 now, so all the technie stuff wasn't available then ... thank God!
82. At what age would you talk to your child about sex? I started answering their questions as soon as they started asking; keeping it age appropriate. I also got books from the library
83. At what age would you talk to your child about drugs? When my kids were younger there wasn't such a problem, but we talked about it with them in middle school
84. Do you talk to your child about what to do in case their is a school shooting? again, not something we need to do; just hoping our kids are doing it with the grandkids. I know our oldest son does ... he's a DC cop, so it's a concern for him and our dd in FL has also talked to her dd we know. Not sure about the others.
85. Do you give your children chores? They all had them growing up and the one still at home still has things she has to do. As long as she lives here, she will have certain responsibilities, especially as long as she's living her rent-free! But she is a pretty good help to us.
Future
86. If you could open up one business what would it be? Dh jokes about opening up a car turn signal repair shop!!!
87. How many children do you want? Got all I want ... actually have all the grandchildren I need, but one kid hasn't even started on that yet!
88. What age should a child leave the nest to be on their own? That depends on the child and their plans
89. If you could have any career you wanted what would you do? I've had it ... I've been very lucky; I've been able to be a SAHM/W in both my marriages and when I did have to work outside the home, I did what I enjoyed there, secretarial ... well until they decided to change the name of that to administrative assistant!
90. When you retire, would you rather stay at a nice home, or travel in an rv? We have a nice home already and it's all paid for. We have a pop-up camper that we would love to be able to trade in for a small size RV, but not sure if we'll be able to afford that or not, but we would love to have that to travel in. Travel though is in our plans when dh retires ... I'm basically already retired; I started collecting my early SS 2 years ago. It wasn't worth waiting until full retirement age, the difference in the amount was only about $200 so dh said to just go ahead and start getting it. I never worked long enough outside the home to pay enough into it to make tht big a difference. When he retires, hopefully in March or April '14, we are going to do a cross-crountry trip as a celebration.

92. Would you change anything about your past? Nope, then I wouldn't be where I am now
93. What's your favorite feature of yourself? I guess my eyes, although really I like to say my heart ... because I have a soft heart

95. Do you wash your hair everyday? No, more like every other day
96. Do you go to the bathroom in front of you S/O? yep, and he does in front of me also

99. One person dead or alive you would want to meet? Jesus, but I will meet him someday; my grandparents on my dad's side
