What is your non-medicine remedy for a cough for a nine year old?

For both day and night?
My DD just got over the flu, but has a cough that stays with you. What do you do to ease your child's cough?
I've done honey, also, honey lemon and warm water, tea, water, & juice.

I do a warm homemade tea of water, honey, lemon, and cinnamon.

Steamy showers, hot lemon water with honey, cough drops, vapor rub, humidifiers.

Vaporizer and/or Vicks Vapo rub on the chest at bed time.

Vicks on bottom of feet, with socks. Sounds crazy, works great.

The same thing that's out there for a toddler :).

Humidifier in his room at night to help stop coughing.  Encourage him to blow his nose often, the faster that mess comes out the better.  If the coughing does get really bad, Vick's on chest and sock-covered feet works well.

Tea is also really good, as is chicken soup (can even be chicken broth).  Tea with honey is great, but some kids don't like the taste (its quite strong).  Tea with echinacea is specifically formunlated to help with  breathing :).

    Good luck!

Have him blow his nose. That normally works for me
