I am not sure if they use the term in Washington DC or Virginia... but here in Maryland you here the term on the radio, the news, and also when talking to other people when referring to the Washington DC/ Maryland/ Virginia area.

Yeah in DC, Northern VA and MD uses the term DMV. What part of MD are you in? I live in MD also :-)

I would love to attend an inauguration at some point in my life. However, it is a little bit of a drive from Pittsburgh and I don't really want to drive through the mountains in January.
