Nick Lachey talks fatherhood and picking son Camden's name

Let it be known: Camden John Lachey was not named after the New Jersey city, says proud papaNick Lachey. The son of the 98 Degrees singer and TV host Vanessa Lachey was named after a location, however.

Nick Lachey tells E! News that he and his wife were inspired by the route they took to the doctor's office over Camden Drive in Beverly Hills. Since they wanted their son's initials to be C.J., they were looking for a "C" name. Colin was vetoed by Vanessa, but they both liked the sound of Camden.

"We fell in love with it, we picked it and that's where it came from," he tells E!. 

Lachey couldn't be happier with his baby boy, and is absolutely loving fatherhood so far. "I didn't come in with any expectations other than it would be incredible," he says. "It's a journey, a new surprise, a new experience, a new expression. It's been great."

Camden was born in September and is the first child for the couple. They married in July 2011.

My son has a friend named Camden. I call him the "snake whisperer", because we had a snake in our big shrub in the front yard, and even though Camden is only about 5 ft tall, he jumped right in, got the snake out, and carried it across the street to the woods. LOL. So, that's been his nickname ever since. He has a brother named Dylan, which I also like.
