Was it an item you own that made your life easier? Was it a family member that unexpectedly did something you never expected today?

I'd like to start with one:
The beginning of the month is "pay the bills" time.
Besides bills I had some serious business I had to attend to, dealing with finances.
I was never so thankful for electronics: cell phone, fax machines and computers.
