Father's Day gift ideas

I posted this on one of the Christmas threads before. It was made for Father's Day and so I thought I would repost it here so it could easily be located. This was taken out of the frame and scanned so you could see it better.  It was very simply done and inexpensive, but very well received. The background looks brown, but it is actually a pretty gold cardstock.

Walk a Little Slower Daddy

"Walk a Little slower, Daddy." said a little child so small.
I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast, sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower Daddy, for you are leading me.

Someday when I'm all grown up, You're what I want to be.
Then I will have a little child who'll want to follow me.

And I would want to lead just right, and know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy, for I must follow you!!

    Here is one that I did for my husband for Father's Day last year... I mounted it on a 12x12 canvas, and he hung it in front of his treadmill so he sees it everyday.

    I also created a special tribute album for him in the past with photo's of him & our boy's on every page and meaningful poems and quotes.

     I absolutely love these ideas that you did for your husbands/kids' dads.  May I ask how you did it?  Where did you find the poems?  Do you think I could find a poem for my fiance, he's the biological father to my SS but my SD (his ex wife's daughter) and my 2 kids aren't his but he loves each one of them and treats none of them any differently than the other.  I would REALLY love to make him one of these for Father's Day.  Any help or advice on how to make these or where to find a poem would be very much appreciated.

    In response to 4EverAMommy... As far as how I made mine... personally I have experience using photoshop and when I did this I was just starting to get into the digital scrapbooking thing, so I also used a lot of digital scrapbooking elements. Unfortunately unless you already have some knowlege/experience with photoshop, it's not an easy program if you're just getting started out, some of the other photo editing programs might be easier if you're a beginner. But I thought I could help you out with the poems... I've collected all kinds of poems & quotes over the years and my oldest son came from a previous marriage as well but was later legally adopted by my husband. Sometimes a family is what God gives you, not what you're born into. Hope some of these help.

    kissing dad

    "Any man can be a father ~ it takes someone special to be a Dad!"

    "A father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there
    But a guiding light to show us the way."

    "My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me."

    "Life doesn’t come with an instruction book, that’s why we have fathers."

    "I’m as lucky as can be, for the world’s best dad belongs to me!"

    "The greatest gift I ever had, came from God, I call him Dad!"

    "A father is someone you will always look up to no matter how tall you’ve grown."

    "A Daddy is a man who has photos in his wallet where his money used to be."

    "A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty"

    "A father means so many things, an understanding heart,
    A source of strength and of support right from the start.
    A constant readiness to help, in a kind and thoughtful way,
    Encouragement and sympathy, forgiveness come what may.
    A special generosity and always affection too.
    A father means so many things when he’s a man like you!"

    A Father Is . . .
    A father is a source of strength, a teacher and a guide,
    The one his family looks up to with loving trust and pride...
    A father is a helper with a willing hand to lend,
    A partner, an adviser, and the finest kind of friend

    Dear Daddy
    In all the things I try to do, I want to do them just like you
    I'm watching every move you make and trying to take each step you take.
    Although right now I'm sort of small, when I'm with you, I feel ten feet tall.
    Like you, I want to be brave and smart, Cuz I love you, Daddy, with all my heart.
    When I am older, I'll be so glad, if I grow up to be just like dad.

    What Makes A Dad
    God took the strength of a mountain, the majesty of a tree,
    The warmth of a summer sun, the calm of a quiet sea,
    The generous soul of nature, the comforting arm of night,
    The wisdom of ages, the power of the eagles flight,
    The joy of a morning in spring, the faith of a mustard seed,
    The patience of eternity, the depth of a family need,
    Then God combined these qualities and then there was nothing more to add,
    He knew His masterpiece was complete, and so, He called it - Dad.

    To Any Daddy
    (Isabelle Tucker)

    There are little eyes upon you, and they're watching day by day;
    There are little ears that surely take in every word you say;
    There are little hands all eager to do everything you do.
    There's a little boy who's dreaming of the day he'll be like you!
    You're that little fellow's idol, you're the wisest of the wise.
    In his little mind, about you, no suspicions e'er arise;
    He believes in you devoutly, holds that all you say or do
    He will say and do, in your way, when he's all grown up like you.
    There's a wide-eyed little fellow who believes you're always right;
    His keen ears are always open to catch your words, day or night.
    You are setting an example, every day, in all you do,
    For the little boy who's wanting to grow up to be like you.

    My Dad Is My Hero

    The world has many heroes
    Who have won a world of fame,
    Heroes who have given their all
    To win in life’s great game.
    But of all the famous heroes
    That our changing world has had,
    There’s not a one I look up to
    Or admire more than my dad.

    To me, my dad’s a hero,
    Though he’d turn away from praise.
    He’s heroic in his quiet strength
    And his gentle, giving ways.
    He may not make the headlines.
    You won’t see him on TV.
    But I think my dad is everything
    A hero ought to be.

    He always keeps his promises,
    On that I can depend.
    He’s loyal to me, no matter what,
    And he’ll always be my friend.
    So when I think of heroes
    And the great things that they’ve done,
    I feel the way that I’ve always felt ~
    My dad’s the greatest one.

    It Takes More Than Blood
    (Kay Des’Ormeaux)

    It takes more than blood to be a dad.
    Oh this is surely a proven fact.
    I’ve seen men give his heart to a child…
    Never once think of taking it back.

    A Dad is the one who is always there;
    He protects a child from all harm,
    He gives a child the assurance that he
    Will be their anchor in any storm.

    A real Dad is a man that teaches his child
    All the things in life he needs to know.
    He’s the tower of strength a child leans on,
    The source of love that helps them grow.

    There are men that children call Daddy,
    Oh, he is their shelter when it rains.
    He showers them with unconditional love,
    As if it were his blood in their veins.

    Whenever you meet a dad that redefines the word,
    Honor him with all the respect that is due.
    Understand that he proudly wears this banner…
    Because his heart is big enough for you.

    It’s sad but true that not all men understand
    It takes more than blood to be a dad.
    Someday if they wake up to their empty life…
    They shall miss what they could’ve had.

    To those men who will never be a dad…
    No matter what they say or do,
    It takes more than blood to possess that title…
    And it’s only found in a man like you.
