    You could do their handprints using a salt dough recipe or

    The child's painted footprint is placed on a paper with this
    following poem...

    Walk A Little Slower

    "Walk a little slower, Daddy",
    Said a little child so small.
    "I'm following in your footsteps,
    And I don't want to fall.

    Sometimes your steps are very fast,
    Sometimes they're hard to see;
    So walk a little slower, Daddy,
    For you are leading me.

    Someday when I'm all grown up,
    You're what I want to be;
    Then I will have a little child
    Who'll want to follow me.

    And I would want to lead just right,
    And know that I was true;
    So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
    For I must follow you."
        (author unknown)

    ----the child signs it when dry.  It's mounted and laminated, 2 holes
    punch in the top edge, and either a length of twine or leather

    If someone has a instant camara you can take pictures and then use Popsicles sticks to make a frame the kids and decorated the frame.

     try this.  take dad's hand and trace it.  then put son's hand inside that handprint and trace his.  somewhere on the pic of thier hands write something like "a father holds your hand for a second but he holds your heart forever."  or "Daddy's Hands" by that 80's country group whose name i can't remember.  it was like "there was always love in Daddy's hands." and let them use like yarn or glitter to outline the hands.  and then frame them.

    Thanks for the ideas!

    My idea was to get  thyme plants and put them in decorated cups or flower pots (that the kids decorated). then glue a picture of a sun, to a popsicle stick that has a poem about dad and how important dads time "thyme"  with them is.

    i thought it would be a great gift, because its not a "flower" but it has an alternate use and they can keep it growing. They wont have to throw it away or stash it.

    Thyme is sort of expencive to buy 20 of them. so maybe if i get started now i can grow them myself.  If that doesn't work then i have these great ideas to fall back on! Thank you all, if any more ideas please share!

     my daughter came home from daycare today with the cutestt fathers day craft. shes only 2, but it could definitely be used for older kids too.

    You take a apple and cut it in half... dip it in red paint and make a stamp of the apple on the paper. paint on a stim.
    then take their pointer finger, and make four little dots to make a caterpillar. (add a smile and googley eyes)

    then write...
    'Daddy, you're the apple of my eye and I love you to the core!!'

    I thought it was so cute. Cant wait for her to give it to dh on sunday. :]
