Let us know what ur doing, even if it's something small we want to know about it.
by raisedfourDecember 29, 2007 at 7:23 AMActually, still working on the last two projects. We do all of the work ourselves...no contractors. We ripped out all of the carpeting in our house and installed prefinished 3/4 inch thick tongue-in-groove oak flooring. Have done unfinished in two previous homes and really didn't want to deal with the sanding, dust, finishing, and fumes again. Paying extra for the prefinished was WELL worth it!
Got to the livingroom and decided to install on the diagonal, rather than straight across. Meant cutting the end boards on a diagonal, obviously, so had that miter saw going constantly. :) Looks great. Still have to install thresholds in the doorways and around the slate hearth of the fireplace, and then repaint and install the baseboards and shoe moldings.
Other project is the kitchen. Have designed and built our own kitchen cabinets (again, doing all work ourselves, no contractors). Need to finish building the upper cabinet doors, then install the finish moldings on all of the cabinets. Also, need to build/install the hood over the stove (vented to outside), and install the backsplash and counters, and FINALLY put in that new sink that has been sitting in its box for the FOUR YEARS that we have been working on this kitchen project. It's tough, when the only time we have to work on it is weekends (when there is nothing else vying for our attention).
