My son turned 3 in July and we've been fighting the same fight.

Today we did a hike at Furnace Run Metropark in Richfield and carved our pumpkin. Tomorrow we're doing another hike at Firestone Metropark in Akron. For those in Summit County, we're trying to finish all of the hikes for the Fall Hiking Spree so DH and DS can get their hiking staff; I already have mine from a few years ago. After tomorrow, we'll be halfway done. I told DH we need to take advantage of the nice weekends from here on out and try to finish long before November 30. I don't want to be doing hikes on cold, rainy days. :)
