Mitt Romney refuses to take questions from children on ‘Kids Pick the President’, Obama participated

October 8, 2012

Nickelodeon states that Mitt Romney opted out of the chance to take part in a “Kids Pick the President” special that includes his President Obama. The  TV channel for children said Monday that the Republican Presidential candidate declined to be involved in the special, while President Obama participated, the AP reports.

Videotaped questions are included in the program for the candidates from children across America. Afterward, viewers can vote for their pick for president.

The show’s host and producer Linda Ellerbee said that candidates show “respect for kids” by answering their questions and called Romney’s decision disappointing. This isn’t the first time Romney has shunned questions, but it is from children.  I’m going to wager a guess – the disrespect shown, will cost Romney votes with children today for their pick. Perhaps children have more common sense than adults, considering the the number of Romney supporters — some of which did not care for him only months ago. There is something wrong with a politician who cannot take children’s questions, yet feels he can lead the most powerful country on Earth.

The Romney campaign did not immediately respond to phone and email requests for comment.

In the Nickelodeon special, Obama is asked about issues including jobs, immigration and bullying.

It will air on Oct. 15, with no answers from Mitt Romney.

Yes, I imagine you're right; I doubt if many children will vote for Romney.

Give me a break! C'mon people! Focus on what's important! The title of this is reprehensible. It makes him seem like he dodged questions he couldn't answer from a kid. I'm sure he has more important things to do and must prioritize his time. Or perhaps he had a conflict in his schedule for those of you who really care. But, no, you must pass judgment without all the facts. Do you really care about whether or not he answers a kids question? Obama on the other hand would rather answer questions from Obama loving venues like The View, David Letterman, and pop radio stations than face hard questions or meet with world leaders like Netanyahu.

Hey...guess what....kids dont get to vote!  Obama is really good at making others think he looks good....but he's not really.

Just like he had time to appear on the view and Leno..but not enough time to meet with world leaders.

    Priorities people....priorities!!!!

My first thought was... Yes Obama will because those are the only questions he probably can't screw up....lol. Honestly though, maybe Romney had another event at the time?

I am not voting for either of them anyway so this doesn't sway me.

That sucks that he did that.... but seriously Obama tries to find every way possible to get out of the job he is suppose to be doing....

When I was younger I was a Democrat because I have a Heart. Now that I'm older, I'm a Republican, because I have a Brain!

Considering Mitt's stance on the children's television network which has been supported by  nickelodeon for years I would hardly call it jumping to conclusions. He should be very concerned what the younger generation thinks.

    Quoting CABZS:

Obama is great at PR, that hasn't changed.  But answering questions to kids doesn't make me like him & won't make me vote for him.

Romney answering questions for kids won't make me vote for him either.

Funny nobody cares why Romney said no, just jumping to conclusions.

But it is ok for Obama to say no to other leaders of the world for no reason or so he can continue to campaingn; fundraise or whatever.

Sorry some things just crack me up.

I am going to have to agree with this. I am NOT a Romney supporter(nor Obama) but I think that this article is just ignorant.

    Quoting Mandi1215:

Okay, so Romney could have participated in this "fun" event for the kids, it was a good opportunity to show his playful side or not he may not have one which is okay with me, my President doesn't need to be smiling and friendly, he just needs to know how to run this country.

I don't see why this is a huge deal to you Obama supporters, but you overlook Obama's lack of meeting up with World Leaders and attending his daily intelligence briefings......seriously overlooking the big picture here people!!!

If they were high school kids maybe, but I don't believe they are.

And if you are talking about cutting funding for PBS, I don't see the big deal in that.  Most of the funding comes from private donations & I don't feel the government needs to be funding TV.

And yeah still jumping to conclusions.
