My neighbour is very upset because a couple days ago I (might have) accidentally ran over her son's bike.
It was left in the street and covered by snow and there was no way I could have seen it. Plus I am not 100% sure it was even me who ran it over. She said he was riding it the day before and forgot to bring it in and then it snowed and he couldn't find it
She said it has to be me because it is kind of behind where my driveway is. That is true but people drive up and down the street all the time
She is demanding I pay the $200 to replace the bike. I told her no. First off it shouldn't be left in the street and it isn't like I did it on purpose or just blatantly ran it over. She said I should have checked before driving. So I guess anytime it is snowing I should go out in the snow and make sure nothing is there.
Some of the other people seem angry but I honestly don't care. It is her kids fault that he left it in the street.
Would you pay $200 to replace the bike? I am honestly curious about how others would handle it
No I definitely would not replace the bike. If you don't know if you were the one who ran over she could just be trying to have someone else replace it so she doesn't have to. It's her son's bike then she should replace it.
