My sister refuses to buy toys/gifts for my kids because my house is too messy

I didn't think it was that messy. My husband is gone for 4 months to work in Hawaii and I'm a working mom with 2 kids, 3 and 1. It's hard to keep up sometimes

It might be worse than you think. Sometimes when you see it every day you get used to it. My best friend had this happen recently. She let her dog destroy her whole house and is absolutely shocked that the carpet installed refuses to pull up and dispose of her old carpeting because it's a sanitation hazard. His exact words. Yikes.

You work so just buy more crud from your earnings.

Why would your sister be expected to buy anything for your children?

I figured she meant for birthdays/Christmas.  As for not buying things for kids, you can still get gifts even if you don't want to give them tangible items - bring them somewhere - zoo, museum, event, etc.
