When Should I Be Concerned?

DS has always gotten headaches, but they've been sporadic.

Just in the last year they seem to be more frequent but not too often, every few months maybe.

This weekend though he's had 2 headaches. Each time I've treated with Tylonol and sent him to lie down.

I don't think they are migraines because he is not sensitive to light or sound.

I myself used to get tension headaches a lot but I started taking a magnesium supplement and that helps a lot.

When would you be concerned over your child getting headaches? He is otherwise healthy.

He always says he is hot before they come on. I don't think it's from dehydration because he drinks plenty during the day.

He is 6, will be 7 next month.

Has he had his eyes checked?

I suggest a food journal so you can see if it is being triggered by something he eats. Especially since he feels hot.

Is he getting enough water or eating enough?   I find ibuprofen helps my headache more then tyenol.

I would mention it at his 7 year well visit, but it could be allergy related.
Does he have a fever with them?

I'd try to go ahead and start getting him checked out. If nothing else you could end up figuring out what triggers them or. Good medication to really help. Good luck.

Get his eyes checked. I started to get really bad headaches in school from eye strain. I got glasses in 2nd grade.
