I'm freaking out a little bit, waiting for the pediatrician to get back from lunch so I can call.  Our housekeeper brought her 17 year old daughter with her today, and nothing out of the ordinary, I went to the bank (five minutes away) while my housekeeper watched my son.  Now we've had conversations and I'm very clear that he's EBF.  When I got back, the 17 year old had taken my son out of his swing and had given him about four ounces of water!  He seems fine but I'm so worried.  Someone tell me he's going to be fine.....I can't believe that my housekeeper allowed this to happen.  I feel like I can't trust her anymore.

The United States is the only developed country to NOT give children water. In most countries its child abuse to only give breast milk or formula.

Bodies need water. This very reason is partially the reason we have an obesity epidemic. Sometimes infants are just thristy, not hungry. Just like you or I.

He's fine. A single episode of 4oz is harmless at 5 months.

    Quoting Anonymous:

I read it's not good to give tap water to babies before 6 months old...

You're freaking out over water?  He will be fine, otherwise we'd all be dead.

I'd be pissed too, but really, he will be fine :) Just make it clear that he shouldn't be given water again until you approve it.
