Wait..THIS makes me a 'bad mom'

Someone told me I am a bad mom because I am making DS and DD reuse their backpacks from last year. DS (entering grade 2) has a bright green one with a skull. DD (entering grade 1) has a purple one with peace signs on it.
They are still in excellent shape, just need to be washed, so what's the point in buying new ones?

My son will reuse his backpack. It's an LL Bean, I bought it to last.

There is no point in buying new ones. That's a stupid thing for someone to call you a bad mom over

I'm a bad mom too then. DS has been using the same one for three years. I asked him if he wanted a new one this year and he said he didn't care. Oh well.

Lol, no it doesn't make you a bad mom! It's a backpack, not like you're stuffing her into clothes that are 5 sizes to small!

I make my kids reuse their backpacks if they are in good shape.  I don't see the point in adding to an already growing garbage problem in our country.  I even stitched up one of the pockets in DS2's backpack because it had come undone.

If they did need new backpacks, I make them wait until after school has started - Target is quick to put them on clearance.

Oh yes. That makes you a horrible TERRIBLE mom *rolls eyes*. I don't see the point of replacing things that are still in good shape either.
