Give you a check and state what you can and can't buy on it.
WIC: Bread, milk, eggs, beans, cereal, juice, tuna!!
FS: Card with $$ on it!?

The government wouldn't be telling you what to eat, they would be putting stipulations on what their money could be used for. You would still be free to use your own money to purchase foods you want or decline FS completely. They wouldn't force you to take them.
no, the government should not be able to regulate it...i wouldn't want anyone telling me what to eat, food stamps or not.. i mean really its my choice...
But if the government is paying for the food, shouldn't they be able to regulate what's being bought with it? Socialism is a wonderful thing!
well just because someone is low income doesn't mean that the government should tell them how to eat! a person should be able to eat how and what they want... whether a person chooses to eat healthy or not doesn't matter to anyone else, its their life, their choice..
too many people worry about what everyone else is doing, its ridiculous
You can buy food. Any food, whateverr you want. It doesn't have to be healthy or even actual food. It can be junk food, soda, etc.
OP: I agree with you. If you're on FS you shouldn't be able to load up your card with junk food. I'm not saying zero junk food but not mostly.
I think they do to an extent
The tuna fish from WIC is only given to moms who are breastfeeding, not to children.
nowhere in my state do they give tuna on wic the choices here are peanut butter, which my 3 yr old is allergic to or beans which she wont eat she has spd and wont eat certain things
