Healthy recipes ... with SIMPLE ingredients....?
January 30, 2013 at 3:02 PM

Seems like every time I search online for new recipes, all I come up with is a bunch of fancy crap with a ton of crazy ingredients. I just want SIMPLE recipes that call for ingredients that the typical person has in their cabinets. I am not Rachel Ray. I just want to cook NORMAL things. lol

Any ideas?

If you like to bake bread, check out a book called Dough. I got a copy at the library, just by accident because I was looking for some new bread ideas.

His basic recipe: flour, yeast, salt and water
The technique he uses is a little different, but I tried it on one of my tried and true make every week recipes and it worked really well.

Look at what you've got or usually keep in your pantry and use your imagination.

Last night I cut some steak into strips (could've used pork chops), mixed together brown sugar and soy sauce, added some fresh broccoli, cooked on low in the crockpot for about an hour and a half. Served over rice. Voila... chinese food.

I made homemade fish sticks for lunch... crushed some corn flakes, added coconut flakes (because we had some, it wasn't entirely necessary but it's yummy), cut up some cod, swirled it around in mayo, baked at 400 for about 10 minutes.
