January 25 at 11:44 AM

So with all the transgender posts about I thought I would start a Q&A. We have many knowledgable individuals on here. So ask your questions and those of us who are transgender or have transgender individuals in our lives will answer your questions for you.

We have not had any surgeries yet. However, we do know before we get "bottom" surgery that we have to have 2 therapists sign off that we do indeed have gender identity disorder. We are on hormones though and before our Endo would start that he had to talk with our therapists to make sure we were good candidates.

    Quoting Anonymous:

What kind of psychological evaluations did you and your wife complete in order to determine if you are surgical candidates?

    Where were those evaluations conducted?

So, you haven't even been evaluated yet?

Have you considered the possibility that you and/or your wife will not meet the criteria for gender reassignment?

We have been evaluated. We are in therapy and we both have the diagnosis of adult gender identity disorder. We have both had 2 professionals determine this (our therapists and our Endo). The only thing we would have to do to have SRS is have another therapist agree with our therapists and Endo.

Do you or your wife have any comorbidities that could interfere with gender reassignment?  Spectrum disorders, schizophrenia, BPD, etc?

We do have comorbidities. However, I do not believe they will interfere with SRS.

Are you planning on having insurance pay for the surgeries?

Right now our insurance does not cover it but we hope in the future it will.

    That's very odd...

In verified cases of gender identity disorder where the candidates have been evaluated as such, insurance will in fact pay for the procedures, as long as the patients have indeed completed the evaluation process.

You answers make me doubt your entire story.  You did not state what evaluations you had.  You did not state where you had them (only a few medical centers in this country are qualified to conduct gender reassignment evaluations).  The costs of such surgeries are in the range of a quarter of a million dollars--each.  No bank will give you a loan for that, no hospital will perform those surgeries without cash on the barrelhead or insurance.

I think you're making this entire story up.

I have no clue who you are talking to but very few transgender individuals actually get their insurance to pay for it. Insurance companies do not have to cover transgender surgeries. My insurance does not cover any transgender services.

As for only a few medical centers offering surgeries, you are incorrect. Where I live there are 3 different doctors who can perform the surgery. You just have to search out the doctors. And the surgeries do not cost a quarter of a million dollars. Bottom surgery ranges generally from $20,000-$30,000. Some pay for this by saving up student loans, some use credit cards, and some set up payment plans with the doctor.

Anybody reading this load of crap should know that the reason this weirdo and her "wife" aren't getting insurance to pay for this is because they don't meet the criteria for gender reassignment for one reason or another.  That's why they didn't seek out a certified institution for gender reassignment, they knew they would be denied.  So they're going fly-by-night.

    So sad...

Its been at least a day since youve pimped yourself out for attention. How do you manage to stand that whole day?

Of course we don't meet the criteria for surgery yet. We haven't lived as the opposite sex long enough and haven't been on hormones long enough. And our insurance won't cover any transgender services basically. Very few insurances actually do.

See, that's the part that's not true.

In June 2008, the American Medical Association House of Delegates declared that discrimination, stating that the denial to patients with Gender Identity Disorder of otherwise covered benefits represents discrimination, and that the AMA supports "public and private health insurance coverage for treatment for gender identity disorder as recommended by the patient's physician." Other organizations have issued similar statements, including WPATH, the American Psychological Association, and the National Association of Social Workers.

So if you are a man that is a woman on the inside, but you like woman, wouldn't you keep your penis so you don't need a strap on, our do you change to a vagina, and use a strap on?

And does that make you a lesbian if you are the man that is a woman on the inside, but you like girls? Would it be called a Transsexual lesbian? And same for woman that feels like a man, but likes man m are they a gay transsexual? Sorry. But i don't know how it works.

Yeah but it isn't the law that all insurance companies must cover it. I have emailed my insurance asking and they said they do not cover transgender services. Every transgender person I know who had their insurance cover anything had to fight tooth and nail to get them to cover it.

Honestly, it all depends on the person. There is no set answer for any of your questions. It depends on the individual.
