Their home only using firewood?
We are using a fireplace insert. It's so much work, but so worth it. Until nights like tonight it's suppose to be 13 degrees out!! Our bedroom is the furthest away from the heat so I will be sleeping with my sweatshirt on lol!

I don't have a fireplace but have in the past and it barely heat the immediate vicinity, nevermind the whole house.

i do and our bedroom is next to the livingroom and is still cold. we also use coal but it dont get the bedroom warm enough, we have 2 blankets on our bed to stay warm where it is going to get down in the single digits tonight

My parents do, they have an outdoor wood furnace that heats their drafty 2,000 square foot farmhouse to a toasty 73 degrees. The house was built in the 1880's -
We just moved into a house with a fireplace and it's freezing here..I'm getting wood tomorrow! Thanks for reminding me :)

Yep, we have a wood stove and we only use firewood.

No, the fireplace is a fun thing we get to use during the cold months. Our house is heated by the central air system with gas. -
A fireplace is completely different than an fireplace insert.

We don't have a fireplace. Our next house will. I also want one in our bedroom -
I don't heat my home. In fact I have the air conditioner running right now. We live on the 3rd floor and I think we are getting everyone else's heat, making our apartment a sauna. -
My husbands grandmother uses a wood burning stove to heat her house and I am very jealous. I would love to heat my house that way.
