No, it's NOT and frankly the law is on the teacher's/school's side. The OP way overstepped her bounds.

It is her business if her child's education is suffering.

It's none of your business. Maybe she has a medical condition that she does want to disclose because she doesn't want her students to know. -

When you are responsible for my kid, you don't get a private life

You DESERVE to know HER private life?! Seriously? You need to back off. You are completely out of line.

The teacher has a right to privacy. Her personal life is none of your business. It is highly possible that she, or a close family member, has some sort of severe medical problem (cancer, for example) and she doesn't want the world to know. As long as your child is receiving an education from the school, they don't have to tell you anything. You do NOT derserve to know.

If she is out that often, I'm sure they have a substitute that actually teaches. My friend was a sub last year for a teacher with cancer. She taught the lesson plan when the teacher wasn't there. Not all subs are there to "babysit" and do movie day.

Yes she most certainly does deserve a private life. If you think your child's education is suffering in her absence talk to the principal but do so with the understanding that asking why she is out or demanding that they terminate her job because you say so will only make you look like a nut job. Go in asking only about how to improve the situation or what options are available to your child.

Wow. Do you think that teachers just don't show up, and that no one else in the school is aware of her absences? These things have to be approved. My mother just retired from teaching Kindergarten, and a few years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She missed a lot of days that year with doctors appointments and treatments, but she had all of her lesson plans prepared, and usually was able to get the same substitute teacher when she was gone. Should she have been fired for having cancer?
Your dd's teacher's reason for absence really is none of your business. If she is missing that much, it is for a reason that you can bet she has already addressed with the administrators.

I will. Thanks that'd be a great idea. She needs to be fired for being irresponsible

I'd go to the school board. And for those saying her kid is still getting an education, it's not a good one. As a former teacher I HATED calling out sick because the subs were pretty much useless. If she is gone that much it is definitely affecting the children's learning. In some states, all you need is a HS diploma to sub. Having a different sub every few days is NOT the same as being taught by a qualified teacher.
