Mom Confessions
Last night DH and I were wrapping presents. His nephew wanted Angry Birds stuff, so , we found a cute shirt and hat with them on it. We had a hard time finding something because everything we found was for girls. My 16 y/o asked where we found it, and, I told him. Then he made the remark that the nephew was more of a momma's boy than my youngest (they are both 10). Then in a kidding way he asked if the nephew was gay. I told him no or at least I hope not, because his parents would disown him. DH explained to him that his uncle lived in a very backwards place. They still use the "n" word and the "f" word. Those words are not allowed in our home. Our boys have been raised to like someone for their inside and not for color, ethnic background,or sexual preference. He went to bed last night still in disbelieve that someone could disown their own child. He still finds it hard to believe since his uncle is always so "cool". If one of your kids came to you and told you they were gay, what would you do. I would continue to love and support them as long as they were happy and were sure.

by AnonymousDecember 11, 2012 at 6:58 PMThe fact that your 16yo thinks it's all right to call a 10yo boy Gay just because he might not be as manly as your own 10yo boy, tells me that he hasn't really learned to look past what a person appears to be.
Nice try, though.
