Angel gifts = dollar store

My friends dd got gifts from the Angel Tree and it was pathetic dollar store crap. These kids are probably not going to have more presents for the rest of the year. Buying them some crap toy from the dollar store to make yourself feel good sucks. If you can't buy a decent toy, don't do Angel Tree.

That's awful. Definitely don't give someone else's kid something that you wouldn't even want to give your own.

The opposite is true...if you aren't going to be happy with what you get, let them buy for someone else.

When I go to the dollar store, they ask if I'd like to purchase a toy to donate. I always do. I didn't realize I was doing anything wrong.

Well if not for those "crappy dollar store" toys would the kid have gotten anything at all? Isn't that why he/she is on the list in the first place?

It's better that they get NO TOYS than dollar store toys?

    Why?

My kid plays with toys that I bought at the dollar store and likes them.

    Same here.
I don't even celebrate Christmas, but if I have a little extra in the Dollar Store, I will buy a gift to donate. Anything to make any childs day brighter
I know my own child appreciates the little presents we get her from there. A doll is a doll. A truck is a truck. Doesn't matter where it comes from!
