Do you consider it dumb and/or dangerous to get a puppy when you have a 12 month old?
Why or why not?
We are getting a puppy for Christmas and have a 12 month old. Some people are saying its so irresponsible and dangerous getting one when the baby is so young. Thoughts?

Why is it dangerous? I think it's better to have both of them grow up together. -

I think it's great. They can grow up together. Although it depends on the puppy obviously. They can be a lot of work and so is your toddler. The puppy will most likely want to play with the toddler and may hurt him or her, but you just need to keep an eye on it. What type of puppy is it?

I don't see what the issue is. We got an older puppy (boxer-hound mix) when my son was 12 months old, and she was with us until just last year (5 years... She died at 6 years, unfortunately. Contracted some kind of virus and the vets couldn't do anything about it.
Sorry to go off on a tangent... I miss her).Anyway, we also got a puppy (pointer-pitt mix) when I was pregnant with my youngest, and he's still with us. I don't see the big deal.
