If it's from escrow, I would be saving it because escrow always has a funny way of having a surplus one year and being short the next year.

I would just put it towards the principal on the house. -
Yeah it was short the year before but it didn't hurt to pay the shortage. It just added about 20 dollars to our regular payment.

My FIL just sent us a 2,000 dollar check just because. We don't think anything of it, it's really not a lot of money. We just threw it into an account. -
Pay off bills. -
Go shopping :) -
Save it for emergencies. Surprise money is best just left alone and forgotten.
