ridiculous I have to lie in a free country!!!! ~*EDIT*~

Its ridiculous that in a FREE COUNTRY I have to LIE. I wish my state had philosophical vaccine exemptions, but they don't. So i'm forced to claim religious. Whatever. Its illegal for them to question and deny me.
Anyways. I felt stupid at the ped today. He respects my choice, but out of curiosity asked why. After my last experience of being honest, I decided to say "its against our religion"... Ha
Then he asks me what religion. I must have looked like a deer in the headlights. I blurted out Baptist. He said he didn't realized Baptist believed that way, so I had to think quick and I said it was just our interpretation of things. Luckily he left it at that.
I hate lying. I'm NOT good at it. Lol

And yes, i'm posting anon because I don't need my inbox flooded with stupidity.

Thanks for the laughs ladies!! I just LOVE the conclusions everyone jumps to. No where did I say I don't vax because of autism or Jenny McCarthy. ROFL.
You call me uneducated and tell me I should do research, but you have no idea what led me to the decision to not vaccinate my children. Do you enjoy name calling? Does it make you feel good about yourself?

About my OP, it has been brought to my attention that I am not in fact lying to get my exemption. Vaccinations go against my beliefs.
I did, however, choose to lie to the pediatrician. Yep, you got me there. God, i'm horrible. Either way, i'm not vaccinating and he wouldn't have been able to change my mind. AFTER I stated my lie, is when he said he respected my choice. Hallelujah!!
The last pediatrician I went to, I WAS honest with and I got a lecture and talked down to like an uninformed child. I was attempting to avoid that situation, and instead but myself in another awkward position. Lol. OOPS.

The decision not to vax my children was not made lightly. I spent Alot of time soul searching and informing myself. This is the best decision FOR MY FAMILY.
I'm not spewing "antivaccine propaganda" nor trying to convince anyone to live the way I do. I was sharing my funny story.

So, to those of you who wish to continue bashing me, carry on. This ol girl feels 100% confident in her choice, and your just making yourselves look foolish!! =)

    What do you mean?

    Quoting NDADanceMom:

Actually I dont think it should be forced.  I think darwin has it right.  I wish more people wouldnt vax.  resources are stretched.

Although I firmly believe that people should be vacinated, but I also firmly believe that it should not be forced. I don't trust the GOV to be in charge of my sons health. The doc gave my son a flu shot, which I didn't feel he needed, but I let him anyway because what could it hurt. After that my son got sick, the doc said he wouldn't get sick from it, but my kid threw up twice, not that bad, but then he had diarrhea for a week, which was very unpleasant for me and him. So then when he was supposed to have a second one a month later, I opted out. Even though the doctor said that he wouldn't get sick from it, I do think it was directly from that flu shot.

My sons a healthy boy, even though hes been formula fed since he was 2 months old, hes only gotten sick 3 times in his first year, and the first time it was really just a fever, nothing else. I'm surprised though, his cousin who is still breastfed and 9 months older than my son, has been sick waaay more than my son. I thought he was going to be getting sick a lot. But he hasn't so, I don't really think he needs so many vaccines. Just the major ones.

I'm fundemental baptist too and that's a first. They are using that verse out of context. My kids are fully vaxed.

    Quoting Bigmetalchicken:

If it helps, I know some fundimental Baptists that do not vaxinate, and when I have asked why, they put it under the "Body is a temple" clause. You don't put anything that may harm you into your body. So...write that down for next time, I guess. lol

    Its all up for interpretation.

Injecting my kids with aborted fetal tissue? Yeah... No thanks.

Some religions don't allow you to take blood from another person. Kinda falls in line with that, imo.

    I agree...

Hell, my DD is autistic (which some people think can be caused by vaccines... not true) and I still have her vaccinated. I don't want her being the "weak link in the chain" at school. I won't get her the flu shot though - this kid is like me; she never gets sick. getting the flu shot (when I worked at a hospital and was basically bullied into it) is the only time I've ever had a 5-day flu. scew that.

    Quoting Not_A_Native:

Personally, I don't think there should be religious exemptions.  You don't want to vaccinate, fine - send your kid to private school or homeschool him/her.

And since they DO allow religous exemptions, I'd say they should have to be signed by a religious leader.

Aw, i'm sorry y'all had to go through that.

They like to blame that on coincidence. Yeah right. Alot of people get sick after those shots.

When I was still on the fence about vaccines, flu shot was never even in my radar. That's a junk, money making vaccine IMO.

I vax, but I don't think you should HAVE to vax to send your kid to school.
