Why do people keep getting pets they don't want or want to kill for their pets whole life?

My cousin has gone through 4 dogs and 10 cats in the last 2 years..

you would think they would just stop getting animals right?

After keeping them for about 2 to 4 months they give the animals away..

If you don't want to spend the years on the pet that they need DON'T get one...

AM I the only one who understand that?

I keep getting fish because they keep dying. I need to cycle my tank again and then I'll be on fish 3.

RIP Miss Sally and Mr Sparkles.

Please don't judge me or bash. It's been a trying week with these fishy deaths.

My husband keeps bringing them into the home. I have not had much choice in the matter. His cats have destroyed our home...he has a problem and does not see that.

I have no idea. I've lost pets and made me very sad :( I have 4 right now but I plan on keeping them for their whole lifetime :)

They like the idea of a cute animal but when they realize they have to do the not so cute things like picking up shit and discipline they don't think they are cute anymore.

if for some reason we have to rehome our cats i will not be bringing any more pets into our home. i get beyond annoyed with people who get pets at one duty station refuse to ship them bc its costly, rehome them then get new pets at their next duty station. i refuse to be one of those people. my cats deserve better.

Not really. Trying to get a smile out of someone, yes. I've really had two fish die. The first one DD was really heartbroken over and I teared up just thinking about how I would tell her. Mr Sparkles was a neighbor's fish that she gave us. He had fin rot and the stress of moving into a new tank killed him. :(

I have had quite a few simply because I have a horrible habit of picking up strays. We only keep them long enough to spay/neuter and give shots then rehome them. I do NOT want to own a pet but I can't stand to see them suffering.

Aww that's why I don't like having pets. Someone stole our dog and the kids cry when they see a dog that looks like her. ;(

You are the not the only wondering that. In the past year, I've "inherited" 2 dogs, a cat, an iguana and baby turtles. They have all came from my brother and his airhead girlfriend. The first dog I had to rehome due to our condo association not allowing pit breeds & he was a red nosed pit. I fought it, but I lost in the end. The cat ran out the front door about several weeks after we got her (dog chased her out) and she was ran over. We now only have the other dog, iguana and turtles.  He called me to tell me he got a snake. I sarcastically said to DH, "Hey do you want a snake in a month or two?"
