No, it's not a recipe that I created. I got it from a friend who knew I had studied in New Orleans. Here's the recipe:
Shrimp Spaghetti New Orleans
8 oz thin spaghetti
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup shredded Gruyere
2 Tablespoons sherry
1/2 lb. sliced sauteed mushrooms
1 ½ lbs. cooked shrimp
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup slivered, toasted almonds
Cook and drain spaghetti: set aside. Melt butter, blend in flour. Gradually add broth and cream. Cook until thickened.. Blend in cheese, sherry and pepper. Heat until cheese melts. Add mushrooms. Remove from heat. Stir in shrimp and spaghetti. Place in a 1 ½ qt. casserole dish. Sprinkle with Parmesan and almonds. Broil 3” from heat for 5-7 minutes. Serves 6.Quoting hugss:
