November 16, 2012 at 1:24 PM

I found this through email/pinterest and thought I'd share. I haven't tried it yet but plan on mixing some up this weekend to use.

Soup or Sauce [S.O.S.] Mix

2 cups powdered non-fat dry milk
3/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup instant chicken bouillon (regular or low sodium)
2 Tbsp dried onion flakes
2 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a recloseable plastic bag, mixing well.
Equal to 9 (10.5 oz) cans of cream soup.

Recipe take from here.

Be sure to check out One Good Thing by Jillee she has some great stuff on her blog.

I've tried it before and it's not that great to me. Then there's also the problem of the oxidized cholesterol in the powdered milk that I would hesitate to use. That's the one form of cholesterol that's harmful.

Is there a sub that you could use for the powered milk?

None that I know.  You could avoid using it by making the soup/sauce fresh every time:  making a roux then adding seasonings and milk.
