The American student, Amanda Knox whose earlier appeal ended in an acquittal in the murder of her British roommate in Italy in 2007 has refused to return to Italy for a second appeals trial.
She served 4 years in prison in Italy and won the appeal in 2011 after which she returned to the US. Now a second appeal case begins today and she has made the decision not to return for the trial for fear of returning to prison.
Do you think that she should return for trial, or since she was acquitted previously, should she be free to remain in the US?
I don't know. I find this case confusing. From what I've read, it does sound like things were not handled correctly in the beginning. But I also don't want to confuse possible innocence with "She's an American of course she's innocent."
