I comparison price (very often online before shopping in the stores or online) to get best prices.
I get some things in off brands or generic but not everything.
I like resale stores for current in style and like new things
I am careful with the lights and combining shopping trips and errands to save on gas
I AM willing however to splurge on something pricier for better quality at times or if its something unique and special.

Linda, that made me smile. I'd do squats for money as well. That's a funny way to look at it...love it.
Quoting LindaClement:
We get money BACK for bottles --we pay the deposit in the first place.
We also pick up bottles and cans when we find them, which is 100% free money. That always feels thrifty.
I also happily squat down to pick up even pennies ... I'm happy to be paid a penny to do one squat. Even happier when it's a quarter!
Quoting TexasWife:
I wish we got money for bottles. It stinks we don't We do the can thing though by selling it to the aluminum people.
Quoting LindaClement:
In some ways:
I dry clothes on a clothesline all year 'round, whenever possible.
I return bottles for the deposit instead of donating them
I cook from scratch for a number of reasons, money being one of them
I buy 2nd hand clothing (and gleefully accept hand-me-downs)
